Hidden Fires & Inner Skies

A New NeuroDivine Eucharistic Devotional

Over the past year, NeuroDivine has become a place for exploring the meeting of faith, neurodivergence, creation, and the quiet presence of God. Through hymns, reflections, poetry, and prayer, a common thread has gradually emerged: Christ is often found not in noise or certainty, but in gentle attentiveness.

I am delighted to share the next step in that journey.

Hidden Fires & Inner Skies is a contemplative Eucharistic devotional rooted in Anglican spirituality and inspired by the landscapes of Ireland. Drawing on Scripture, the Eucharist, rivers, birds, trees, and the rhythms of the Church’s year, it offers twelve reflections, each accompanied by questions for contemplation and a short prayer.

Written from a neurodivergent perspective, it is especially intended for those who have experienced sensory overwhelm, hidden exhaustion, or chronic illness, or who simply long for a gentler rhythm of faith. Yet my hope is that it will offer encouragement to anyone seeking to discover Christ’s presence in the ordinary places of life.

The title reflects two central images. Hidden fires remind us that the Holy Spirit often works quietly, like the tiny goldcrest whose golden crown shines among the branches. Inner skies speak of the landscape within us, where memory, imagination, prayer, and grace meet beneath the gaze of God.

As I wrote in the Introduction:

“May the Spirit who hovered over the waters still hover gently over your inner skies.

And may Christ, present in bread and silence and flowing water, lead you into that secret peace which folds around the soul like light upon a river.”

My prayer is that this little book becomes a companion for those quiet moments before Holy Communion, beside a river, in hospital, on retreat, or at the close of day, offering small sanctuaries of peace wherever it is opened.
