A simple prayer with ordinary rosary beads for times of illness, treatment, waiting, fear, and rest.
This rosary may be prayed in a hospital bed, a dialysis chair, a waiting room, before surgery, during treatment, or beside someone you love. It is offered simply as a way of remaining with Christ, who remains with us.
At the Cross
In the name of the Holy Three, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
Christ before me,
Christ beside me,
Christ within me,
Christ in all who care for me.
On the First Large Bead
Lord Jesus Christ,
healer and companion,
I place into your hands
my body, my fear, my questions,
and all that I cannot control.
Stay with me here.
On the Three Small Beads
For faith when I am afraid:
Jesus, remain with me.
For hope when I cannot see what comes next:
Jesus, remain with me.
For love surrounding me, near and far:
Jesus, remain with me.
The First Mystery
Christ in the Body
On the large bead
Jesus, Word made flesh,
you took a human body
and made our flesh your dwelling place.
Be present in this body of mine.
On each of the ten small beads
Christ in my weakness, remain with me.
The Second Mystery
Christ in the Waiting
On the large bead
Jesus, who waited
in wilderness and garden,
be with me in results awaited,
decisions not yet made,
and hours that pass slowly.
On each of the ten small beads
Christ in my waiting, remain with me.
The Third Mystery
Christ in Those Who Care
On the large bead
Jesus, who touched the sick
and received the ministry of others,
bless every person
whose skill and kindness
are given for my care.

The Fourth Mystery
Christ in the Fear
On the large bead
Jesus, who knew anguish in Gethsemane,
I do not hide my fear from you.
Receive what frightens me
and stay beside me within it.

The Fifth Mystery
Christ in the Rest
On the large bead
Jesus, who slept upon the boat
while the waters moved around you,
grant rest to my body,
quiet to my mind,
and peace within my soul.

Christ in my resting, remain with me.
Concluding Prayer
Into your hands, O Christ,
I commend this body,
which you know more deeply than I do.
Bless those who watch while I sleep.
Give wisdom to those who must decide.
Give gentleness to those who must act.
Give peace to those who love me.
Whether waking or sleeping,
waiting or healing,
rejoicing or afraid,
let me know that I am held
within the everlasting love of God.
