By rail I leave the Kildare fields,
And northward make my way,
Through autumn gold and winter grey,
Or brightness of the day.
The Barrow fades, the plains roll past,
The distant hills arise,
Until the northern city stands
Beneath familiar skies.
At Walsingham we meet to pray,
And gather at the board,
Within Our Lady's welcome warm,
To worship Christ our Lord.
In St George's halls we share our meal,
And stories old and new,
The bonds of faith and friendship grow,
As pilgrims often do.
Then evening calls me south once more,
The railway sings again,
And carries me through fading light
Across the Irish plain.
Though no near group in Kildare waits,
The journey still seems small,
For Belfast's monthly pilgrimage
Is gift enough for all.
And as the carriage homeward glides
Through fields beneath the stars,
I carry peace Our Lady gave
Back to my own hearth's bars.

From Barrow to Farset for Our Lady
Two rivers, one railway, and a monthly journey north in devotion to Our Lady.
