A day from dialysis free,
I planned to go about;
But then my blood pressure sank low,
And all my strength ran out.
My pressure fell quite low indeed,
And left me pale and weak;
The things I thought that I might do
Were now beyond my reach.
I felt myself grow far too warm,
A warning sign to heed;
I shed my footie shirt at once,
And knew my pressing need.
We opened wide the bathroom sash
To let the cool air by;
Then off to bed I had to go,
My weary legs raised high.
With Albert in his rainbow shirt,
I settled down to rest;
A friend of Otto, Liam too,
Whose hugs I like the best.
At last I felt more like myself,
And strength returned once more;
The day I'd thought to spend abroad
Was not the day in store.
Yet dialysis calls again,
Tomorrow comes too soon;
And I shall take that well-known road
Beneath another moon.
