A poem written while waiting on Parliament Street, Dublin, as the city moved around me.
The city buzzed with light so bright
The gays were out to play
No cars allowed; yet bikes galore
do ply this street today.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
They come in quite a line.
From eateries to homes they go,
To let the city dine.
It’s fun to sit and watch them all
Record what I can see.
From time to time a face I know
Appears and talks to me.
‘Why sit you out?’ When bars around,
Are busy, loud and gay?
They’re not for me; I have my man.
I’ll wait for him, today.
