🌞 Midday Prayer

A quiet pause at the heart of the day

Midday Prayer on NeuroDivine offers a brief moment of stillness in the midst of work, study, travel, or ordinary daily life. Rooted in the ancient Christian practice of remembering the Incarnation at midday, it invites us to pause, breathe, and remember that the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

Simple, spacious, and sensory-aware, this office is written to be accessible for autistic and neurodivergent people while welcoming anyone seeking a moment of prayer in the middle of the day.

This office may be prayed alone or with others. When prayed in a group, one person may say the first line and all respond with the words in bold. When prayed alone, simply pray the whole office at your own pace.

You may stand, sit, kneel, curl up, or remain still—whatever helps your body feel safe and at peace. Allow yourself to pause, to breathe, and to rest for a few moments in the presence of Christ before returning to the work of the day.

The Word was made flesh
and dwelt among us.

Pause. Let the breath fall gently.

Holy Mary welcomed the Light;
may Christ be born in us this day.

Pause again. Feel the ground beneath you.

Behold, the servant of the Lord;
be it unto me according to Your word.

A moment of stillness.

Christ, Light of the World,
shine in our hearts at this hour.

Prayer

Let us pray.

Holy One,
at the height of the day
we remember the mystery of Your coming:
light in our darkness,
flesh in our frailty,
hope in our waiting.

Let the grace of Christ
take root in us anew,
that our lives may bear His peace
in every step and every breath. Amen.

Blessing

May Christ,
the Word made flesh,
be our light at midday. Amen.
