The first welcome is water’s grace,
A stillness, deep and clear;
At font we’re named before we walk,
And Christ draws each one near.
A few steps on, a gentler sign—
The cup, the hearth, the rest;
Where quiet talk and shared-out time
Make every stranger guest.
In Brigid’s house these vessels stand,
Two thresholds close and true:
One starts the way in baptism’s light,
One keeps the journey through.
For welcome is the Gospel’s shape,
Its vow in daily form;
The font’s first promise carried on
In kindness, calm, and warm.
